A Lot of Swirling in Michigan: Community College Daily

A new report on recent four-year college graduates in Michigan shows that a significant number of them attended a community college on their way toward a baccalaureate. 

Overview

CHERP researchers are partnering with the state of Michigan to provide data and analysis about their transfer population to inform ongoing transfer policy reform. Michigan has implemented several policy developments related to transfer over the past several years, including developing multi-institutional associate to bachelor's degree transfer pathways, replacing the Michigan Transfer Network, and producing and utilizing data on transfer student outcomes. CHERP researchers have supported Michigan transfer reform efforts with data and analysis.

Project Work

Transfer Pathways and Patterns in Michigan

With the support of funding from the Michigan College Access Network (MCAN), CHERP researcher Dr. Jason Taylor partnered with the Michigan Community College Association (MCCA) to examine transfer patterns pathways in Michigan. This research led to a public report that examined transfer and mobility in the state to understand how students successfully use community college transfer to progress toward their bachelor’s degree.

Liberal Arts Transfer Pathways to Independent Institutions

With the support of the Teagle Foundation, CHERP researcher Dr. Jason Taylor partnered with the Michigan Community College Association (MCCA) and Michigan Independent Colleges and Universities (MICU) to examine opportunities to strengthen transfer pathways between community colleges and independent institutions in Michigan.
